Help and Hope in Jesus’ Name
City Hope is a ministry of Christ Church that serves the valley by providing help and hope for those in need.
More than just a local food bank, each City Hope Center is arranged like a store, allowing guests to shop for food, hygiene, and clothing items at no cost. It’s also a place where you can get connected to helpful programs and services. We are open to the general public and seek to help anyone living in Arizona.
Bob and Gaye Swaback started the original Harvest Compassion Center in 2004 in memory of their son, Mitch. Since then, they’ve sacrificially served and given to the Phoenix community. You can read Mitch’s story here.
When Adam Bailie, founding pastor of Christ Church, met Bob and Gaye Swaback and saw how they were serving their community, he began to dream of opening a similar ministry in the Valley. With a generous gift from a philanthropist, Christ Church opened City Hope, formerly named Compassion Center, in February 2016.
